Which Narnia book begins with four children entering a wardrobe?
Answer
The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe
Answer
The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe
The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe begins with four children entering a wardrobe.
Published in 1950, the novel introduces Peter, Susan, Edmund, and Lucy Pevensie. Lucy discovers that an ordinary wardrobe provides a route into Narnia, where the children become involved in a struggle against the White Witch.
The book is the first published volume of The Chronicles of Narnia, although some modern editions number The Magician’s Nephew first because its story takes place earlier in Narnia’s internal history. That difference between publication order and chronological order is a frequent source of confusion.
The title names three central images: Aslan, commonly associated with the lion; Jadis, the White Witch; and the wardrobe that forms the children’s entrance. Its combination of fairy tale, adventure, mythology, and Christian symbolism made it Lewis’s most widely recognized single novel.
