Joe Alwyn received co-producer recognition for Taylor Swift’s “august” after Folklore won Album of the Year.
On the original Folklore liner notes, Swift and Jack Antonoff were listed as the producers of “august.” The Recording Academy later recognized Alwyn as a co-producer after Folklore won Album of the Year at the 63rd Annual Grammy Awards in 2021. Alwyn used the pseudonym William Bowery for other songwriting and production credits connected with Swift’s work.
This credit can be confused with Aaron Dessner’s role on Folklore. Dessner was a central producer on the album, but he is not listed as a producer of “august.” Alwyn’s contribution is part of the album’s remote, home-based creation during the pandemic, when collaborators exchanged recordings digitally.
