Which musician played saxophones and flute on Taylor Swift’s “august”?

Evan Smith played saxophones and flute on Taylor Swift’s “august.”

Smith is also credited with electric guitar and keyboards on the track. These instrumental layers contribute to the song’s lush, cinematic arrangement, which combines dream-pop atmosphere with guitar pop, soft rock, strings, and reverberant vocals.

The other musicians listed in the credits had different roles. Bobby Hawk played strings, Laura Sisk handled recording, and Jonathan Low mixed the song and recorded its synth bass. Jack Antonoff played drums, percussion, programming, and guitars as well as serving as a writer and producer.

Credit lists can be confusing because several contributors worked across the Folklore sessions, and some performed multiple instruments. Evan Smith’s distinctive credit is the saxophone-and-flute contribution, not the production or mixing credit.
