Which musician performed the first in-game concert in Fortnite in 2019?

The story behind the answer

Marshmello performed Fortnite’s first major in-game concert in 2019. The virtual show, called “Party at Pleasant Park,” took place at the Pleasant Park location on February 2, 2019, with an encore the following day.

The event turned a normal Battle Royale point of interest into a temporary concert venue. Players could attend without being attacked or eliminated, while Marshmello’s avatar performed songs including “Alone,” “Happier,” “Everyday,” and “Fly.” Epic also released a Marshmello outfit and themed cosmetics around the event, helping establish Fortnite as a platform for entertainment events as well as competitive play.

More than 10 million players attended the first performance, a remarkable audience for a live digital event. Travis Scott’s “Astronomical” concerts followed in April 2020 and drew even larger numbers, while Ariana Grande, Metallica, and other artists later appeared in Fortnite. Marshmello’s show was not the first virtual concert in video-game history, but it is recognized as Fortnite’s first headline in-game concert.
