Aaron Dessner joined Taylor Swift and Jack Antonoff onstage for the 2021 Grammy performance of “august.”
The performance took place at the 63rd Annual Grammy Awards on March 14, 2021. Swift, Antonoff, and Dessner performed a medley of “Cardigan,” “august,” and “Willow,” connecting songs from Folklore and Evermore in one woodland-themed presentation.
Dessner was a key collaborator on both surprise albums. His work with Swift helped define the atmospheric, understated sound of her 2020 projects, and his presence at the Grammys highlighted the collaborative nature of the Folklore era.
Joe Alwyn is the likely alternative for listeners familiar with the “august” credits, since he is credited as a co-producer. However, Alwyn did not join Swift and Antonoff onstage for this Grammy performance. The third performer was Aaron Dessner.
