Which musical group did White Stripes' Jack White form with Brendan Benson in 2005?

The story behind the answer

Jack White and Brendan Benson formed The Raconteurs in 2005. The band began when the two Detroit-area musicians wrote “Steady, As She Goes,” a song whose chemistry led them to expand the collaboration into a full group.

The lineup was completed by Jack Lawrence and Patrick Keeler, the bassist and drummer of the Cincinnati garage-rock band The Greenhornes. The new quartet recorded its debut material in Benson’s home studio in Detroit while fitting sessions around their existing musical commitments. Although often called a supergroup, the members described it as a new band made up of old friends.

The Raconteurs released their debut album, Broken Boy Soldiers, in 2006. Its first single, “Steady, As She Goes,” became an international hit and established the group as more than a side project for White, who was then best known as half of The White Stripes. In Australia, the band performed under the name The Saboteurs because another group already held the Raconteurs name.
