Which multiplayer mode did Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 add where one player is 'it'?

The story behind the answer

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 added Tag, the multiplayer mode in which one player is “it.”

Tag adapts the familiar playground game for skating. Players chase one another around a level, and the player who is “it” has a timer associated with that status. The goal is to pass the disadvantage to the other player by making contact before the timer runs out. The player who causes the opponent’s timer to expire wins.

The mode joined the original game’s multiplayer offerings—Graffiti, Trick Attack, and HORSE—along with multiplayer Free Skate. Graffiti is about recoloring level objects, Trick Attack is a score-combination contest, and HORSE penalizes the lower scorer with letters. Those modes are easy to confuse because all use the same levels and trick system, but only Tag centers on pursuit and changing “it” status.

Pro Skater 2 also introduced manuals, allowing players to connect more tricks across a run, and added a career structure with cash rewards and character upgrades. Tag therefore appeared in a sequel that was refining both competitive play and the basic combo engine.
