Which MTV series was spun off from the film Clerks and featured characters Leonardo and Jay?

The story behind the answer

Clerks: The Animated Series was the MTV series spun off from Kevin Smith’s film Clerks and featuring Leonardo and Jay.

The animated series was created by Kevin Smith and Scott Mosier, who had also worked on the original independent film. Its characters included Dante Hicks, Randal Graves, Jay, Silent Bob, and Leonardo Leonardo, an absurdly wealthy antagonist. The show used fast dialogue and self-aware humor associated with Smith’s View Askewniverse.

Although it was produced for television animation, the series retained the characters and comic sensibility of the film. Its brief run and unusual episode order have contributed to confusion about where it originally aired and how many episodes were made.

The title should not be confused with other MTV animation projects such as The Maxx or The Head, which were unrelated productions.
