Which MTV series followed Rob Dyrdek and Christopher “Big Black” Boykin living and working together?

The story behind the answer

Rob & Big was the MTV reality series that followed skateboarder Rob Dyrdek and Christopher “Big Black” Boykin.

The show premiered in 2006 and presented a comic, semi-scripted view of the pair’s home life, friendship, business activities, and unusual challenges. Dyrdek was already known as a professional skateboarder, while Boykin served as his bodyguard and close friend.

Episodes combined everyday situations with elaborate stunts and practical jokes. The contrast between Dyrdek’s energetic ambitions and Boykin’s calmer personality became the program’s central dynamic. The series ran for three seasons and ended in 2008.

Rob & Big is sometimes mixed up with Rob Dyrdek’s later MTV programs Fantasy Factory and Ridiculousness. Those shows also featured Dyrdek, but they had different formats and did not center on his shared domestic life with Boykin.
