Jersey Shore introduced viewers to a group of young adults living together at the Jersey Shore in New Jersey.
The MTV reality series premiered in 2009 and followed its cast through shared housing, nightlife, friendships, arguments, and romances. Its best-known cast members included Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi, Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino, Paul “Pauly D” DelVecchio, and Jenni “JWoww” Farley.
The title refers to the New Jersey shore region, although much of the original series was filmed in Seaside Heights. Jersey Shore is sometimes confused with Floribama Shore, a later MTV series using a similar cast-house and coastal-party format. Jersey Shore became a major pop-culture phenomenon and received multiple spin-offs and reunion projects.
