Which movie did Elvis Presley made his movie debut?

The story behind the answer

Elvis Presley made his movie debut in Love Me Tender, released in 1956. The Civil War-era western was originally titled The Reno Brothers, but the name changed before release to promote Presley’s recording of the title song. He played Clint Reno, the younger brother of a Confederate soldier who becomes involved in a family conflict after the war.

The film premiered in New York on November 15, 1956, and marked Presley’s first appearance on the big screen. Although his character dies near the end, preview audiences reportedly reacted strongly, so singing footage was added after the dramatic conclusion. The movie helped connect Presley’s music career with Hollywood stardom.

Love Me Tender is sometimes confused with Jailhouse Rock, which became one of Presley’s most famous films, or Loving You, his second movie. Flaming Star was also an Elvis film, but it came later, in 1960. Presley went on to make 31 feature films and two theatrically released concert documentaries.
