The highest point on the Isle of Man TT course is associated with Snaefell.
The TT Mountain Course climbs onto the A18 Snaefell Mountain Road during its return from Ramsey to Douglas. Its highest section reaches about 422 metres above sea level near Hailwood’s Height and the Brandywell area, on the slopes of Snaefell rather than at the mountain’s summit itself.
Snaefell is the Isle of Man’s highest mountain, rising to 620.9 metres. The name comes from Old Norse and is commonly translated as “snow mountain.” The summit has a railway station, café and communications masts, although the race circuit does not pass over the summit.
A common mix-up is naming Hailwood’s Height as the mountain. Hailwood’s Height is a named point on the course; Snaefell is the mountain whose slopes contain the course’s highest section.
