Which mountain is the highest point in Cameroon?
Answer
Mount Cameroon
Answer
Mount Cameroon
Mount Cameroon is the highest point in Cameroon. It rises to about 4,095 metres above sea level.
The mountain is an active volcano on Cameroon’s southwestern coast, close to the Gulf of Guinea. Its volcanic slopes support forests, farmland, and varied ecosystems, while its position near the coast gives it a distinctive setting among Africa’s major mountains.
Mount Cameroon is part of the Cameroon Volcanic Line, a chain of volcanic features extending across the region. The volcano has erupted several times in modern history, including eruptions in 1999 and 2000.
It is sometimes confused with Mount Oku, another important Cameroon peak. Mount Oku is high, but Mount Cameroon is the country’s highest mountain and one of the highest peaks in West Africa.
