Which mountain is the highest point in Brazil and lies in the Amazon region?
Answer
Pico da Neblina
Answer
Pico da Neblina
Pico da Neblina is Brazil’s highest mountain and lies in the Amazon region near the Venezuelan border.
Its summit reaches about 2,995 metres above sea level. The mountain stands in the Serra do Imeri, within Pico da Neblina National Park in the state of Amazonas.
The name means “Peak of the Mists,” a reference to the cloud and mist frequently surrounding its upper slopes. The mountain is part of a remote border landscape containing distinctive highland ecosystems rather than typical lowland rainforest alone.
Pico da Neblina is sometimes confused with Mount Roraima, a famous table mountain farther east on the Brazil–Venezuela–Guyana frontier. Mount Roraima is visually iconic, but Pico da Neblina is Brazil’s highest summit.
