Which motorcycle was Ducati’s first model in its Monster naked-bike family?

The story behind the answer

The Ducati Monster 900 was the first model in Ducati’s Monster naked-bike family.

Ducati introduced the Monster at the 1992 Cologne Motorcycle Show, and the original production version appeared as the M900 in 1993. It combined a trellis frame and air-cooled 904 cc V-twin engine with minimal bodywork, creating the compact, exposed look that became the Monster’s signature.

Miguel Galluzzi designed the motorcycle. Rather than being a fully faired superbike, it emphasized upright road riding, visible mechanical parts and a comparatively simple riding experience. That formula helped establish the modern popularity of the naked-bike category.

The Monster range later expanded with smaller 600 and 620 models, as well as liquid-cooled high-performance versions. Those motorcycles belong to the same family, but they were introduced after the original M900.
