Which motorcycle did Honda launch in 1992 with the nickname “FireBlade” in Europe?

The story behind the answer

Honda launched the Honda CBR900RR in 1992, and it was marketed as the FireBlade in Europe.

The motorcycle was developed under Honda engineer Tadao Baba, who sought to combine liter-bike acceleration with the lighter handling associated with smaller sport bikes. Its 893 cc four-cylinder engine was smaller than a typical 1,000 cc superbike engine, but the motorcycle’s low weight helped it perform strongly.

The CBR900RR influenced the modern open-class sport-bike formula by emphasizing power-to-weight ratio rather than engine size alone. Later versions increased displacement and eventually adopted the CBR954RR name in some markets.

The FireBlade name is sometimes confused with Honda’s CBR1000RR Fireblade, which succeeded the 900 series. The original 1992 model is specifically the CBR900RR, with “FireBlade” written as one word in its European branding.
