Which mobile browser is Mozilla's version of Firefox for Apple's iOS?
Answer
Firefox for iOS
Answer
Firefox for iOS
Mozilla’s Firefox browser for Apple’s iOS is called Firefox for iOS.
Mozilla initially hesitated to bring a full Firefox browser to iPhones because Apple required third-party browsers to use the platform’s WebKit framework. Before the real browser arrived, Mozilla offered Firefox Home, a companion app that synchronized bookmarks, history, and tabs but was not a complete web browser.
Mozilla announced a move toward Firefox on iOS in 2015, released a preview in New Zealand that September, and launched the browser more broadly in November of that year. Because of Apple’s rules, Firefox for iOS uses WebKit rather than Firefox’s Gecko engine, which remains central to Firefox on desktop and Android.
Firefox Focus is a separate Mozilla product designed around privacy and simplified browsing. Fennec was a codename for Firefox’s older mobile editions, especially the Android version, while Camino was an unrelated Mac browser project. Those distinctions make Firefox for iOS the single canonical answer.
