“I'm lovin' it” launched globally as a McDonald’s slogan in 2003.
The phrase became the centerpiece of a major worldwide branding campaign and was written in lowercase with an apostrophe in “lovin’.” Its informal wording was intended to sound conversational and emotionally positive, linking McDonald’s food with enjoyment rather than simply listing products.
The campaign included music associated with Justin Timberlake and production connected with Pharrell Williams. McDonald’s adapted the campaign across countries while keeping the English line and its distinctive musical identity central to the brand.
The slogan is sometimes confused with “You Deserve a Break Today,” McDonald’s famous 1970s advertising line. That earlier slogan belonged to a different campaign. “I'm lovin' it” replaced several later taglines and became one of the company’s longest-running global brand platforms.
