Which McDonald’s character was modeled as the mayor of McDonaldland?

Mayor McCheese was modeled as the mayor of McDonaldland.

Mayor McCheese was one of the central figures in McDonald’s fictional advertising world. His oversized cheeseburger head and formal mayoral clothing made him instantly recognizable and connected civic imagery with the restaurant’s signature menu item.

The character appeared alongside figures such as the Hamburglar, Grimace, Birdie the Early Bird, and the Fry Kids. Together, they gave McDonald’s commercials a continuing cast and a setting that could support recurring stories and promotions.

Mayor McCheese is sometimes confused with Officer Big Mac because both characters represented authority within McDonaldland. Their roles were different: Mayor McCheese was the town’s mayor, while Officer Big Mac served as its police officer.
