The character’s design changed over the years. Later versions presented the Hamburglar as a younger, more cartoon-like figure, while retaining the central hamburger theme. These changes reflected broader shifts in children’s advertising and in the visual style of McDonaldland.
The Hamburglar is sometimes confused with Grimace, another McDonaldland character. Grimace was generally presented as a large purple figure, whereas the Hamburglar’s defining joke was his attempt to steal hamburgers.
