Which McDonald's character is known as the chain's burger-stealing trickster?

The Hamburglar is McDonald's burger-stealing trickster character.

The Hamburglar became one of the best-known residents of McDonaldland. His role in advertisements was to try to take hamburgers, especially McDonald's signature burgers, while other characters reacted to his schemes. The joke gave the brand a recurring comic conflict that could be understood quickly by children.

The character's appearance changed substantially over the years. Early versions were more eerie and less childlike, while later advertising presented him as a smaller, friendlier cartoon figure dressed in a striped outfit and cape.

The Hamburglar is sometimes confused with Captain Crook, another McDonaldland villain associated with Filet-O-Fish. Their food-related roles were different: the Hamburglar targeted hamburgers, while Captain Crook was linked with fish sandwiches.
