Which McDonald’s character is known as a striped-clothing hamburger thief?

The Hamburglar is McDonald’s character known as a striped-clothing hamburger thief.

The character became part of the McDonaldland cast used in McDonald’s advertising. He was portrayed as a small, mischievous figure who tried to steal hamburgers, especially Big Macs, from the other characters.

The Hamburglar’s appearance changed over the years. Early versions looked more like a fantasy villain, while the later version was shorter and more childlike, wearing a striped outfit, mask, and cape. The redesign made the character friendlier for the family audience targeted by McDonaldland advertising.

The Hamburglar is sometimes confused with Captain Crook, another McDonaldland villain associated with Filet-O-Fish sandwiches. Their food-themed roles were different, making the Hamburglar’s hamburger focus the identifying clue.
