Mayor McCheese is the McDonald's character with a hamburger-shaped head who serves as the mayor of McDonaldland.
Mayor McCheese appeared as a suited civic leader in the fictional advertising world created for McDonald's. His oversized hamburger head turned a familiar menu item into a memorable visual character, while his title made him part of the imaginary community's government.
He is sometimes confused with Officer Big Mac, another McDonaldland figure whose design was based on the Big Mac. Both characters used food imagery, but their roles were different: Mayor McCheese was the mayor, while Officer Big Mac was associated with law enforcement. McDonaldland's character system helped McDonald's build recurring stories around its brand.
