Mayor McCheese is the McDonald's character with a cheeseburger-shaped head who served as a fictional mayor.
He was one of the central figures in McDonaldland advertising, appearing as a civic leader alongside Ronald McDonald, the Hamburglar, Grimace, and other characters. His head combined familiar hamburger imagery with a human-style mayoral role, making the character a direct expression of McDonald's food branding.
Mayor McCheese is sometimes mixed up with Officer Big Mac, another character whose design was based on McDonald's menu imagery. The two had different roles in the fictional setting. Mayor McCheese's importance was especially visible in older commercials and promotional materials, even though McDonald's later used the broader character world less often.
