Which McDonald’s character has a cheeseburger for a head?

Mayor McCheese is the McDonald’s character with a cheeseburger for a head.

Mayor McCheese was one of the colorful residents of McDonaldland, the fictional world used in McDonald’s advertising beginning in the early 1970s. His design combined a human-like mayoral body with an oversized cheeseburger head, making the character immediately connected to the restaurant’s food.

The character appeared alongside figures such as Ronald McDonald, Grimace, Birdie, the Hamburglar, and Captain Crook. McDonaldland gave McDonald’s a shared setting in which multiple characters could support television commercials, packaging, and promotional material.

Mayor McCheese is sometimes confused with Officer Big Mac, another McDonaldland character whose head was based on a Big Mac. The distinction is the specific food design: Mayor McCheese has a cheeseburger head, while Officer Big Mac has a Big Mac-shaped head.
