McDonald’s launched “I’m Lovin’ It” as its global advertising tagline in 2003.
The campaign marked a major effort to give McDonald’s a more consistent international voice. Its branding used the phrase alongside the familiar Golden Arches and a distinctive musical identity. The campaign was notable because it was designed for worldwide use rather than being limited to one national market.
The English phrase is often written with the informal contraction “I’m,” matching the campaign’s conversational tone. McDonald’s continued using the tagline across television, packaging, digital advertising, and restaurant promotions.
It is sometimes confused with “You Deserve a Break Today,” an earlier McDonald’s slogan from the 1970s. That older line remains one of the company’s most famous historical campaigns, but it is not the 2003 tagline.
