Which McDonaldland character served as chief of police?

Officer Big Mac served as McDonaldland’s chief of police.

Introduced in 1971, Officer Big Mac was a walking, uniformed Big Mac whose job was to represent law and order in McDonaldland. He wore a constable-style uniform and a tiny helmet balanced on his burger-shaped head. His recurring duty was chasing the Hamburglar and Captain Crook.

The character is easy to confuse with Mayor McCheese, another burger-headed McDonaldland figure. Mayor McCheese governed the imaginary community, while Officer Big Mac handled policing. Other listed characters had different roles: Captain Crook was a pirate antagonist, Uncle O’Grimacey promoted the Shamrock Shake, and the Professor was an inventor.

Officer Big Mac and several other original characters were phased out in the mid-1980s. McDonaldland itself later appeared less often, although characters such as Ronald McDonald, Grimace and the Hamburglar remained more recognizable parts of McDonald’s advertising history.
