Which McDonaldland character is a talking cheeseburger with a mayoral title?

Mayor McCheese is the McDonaldland character portrayed as a talking cheeseburger with a mayoral title.

The character has a hamburger-shaped head, large facial features, and a mayoral sash. He appeared in McDonald’s advertising as the ceremonial leader of McDonaldland, a fictional setting created to connect the company’s food items with memorable characters. His design made the product itself part of the fantasy world.

Mayor McCheese belonged to a larger group that included Ronald McDonald, Grimace, the Hamburglar, Birdie, and other characters. The characters were used in commercials, promotional materials, toys, and restaurant-related attractions, although their prominence changed over the decades.

Mayor McCheese is sometimes confused with Officer Big Mac because both connect a McDonald’s product with a civic role. Officer Big Mac was a separate character, while Mayor McCheese was specifically the cheeseburger-headed mayor.
