Which McDonaldland character held the fictional office of mayor?

Mayor McCheese was the McDonaldland character who held the fictional office of mayor.

Mayor McCheese was designed as a whimsical combination of a civic leader and a McDonald's hamburger. He had a large cheeseburger for a head and typically wore a formal suit, top hat, and chain of office, turning a familiar food item into a cartoon public official.

The character appeared in McDonaldland advertising alongside Ronald McDonald, the Hamburglar, Grimace, and other figures. His title helped make the fictional setting feel like a complete community with its own institutions and personalities.

Mayor McCheese is sometimes confused with Officer Big Mac, another McDonaldland figure whose role was connected with law enforcement. The names also reflect different parts of the brand's wordplay: Mayor McCheese evokes a civic title and cheese, while Officer Big Mac evokes a police role and a menu item.
