One Piece is the manga series that follows pirate captain Monkey D. Luffy and his Straw Hat crew.
Eiichiro Oda created One Piece, which began serialization in Weekly Shōnen Jump in 1997. Luffy sets out to find the legendary treasure known as the One Piece and become Pirate King. His crew grows over time as the story moves through islands, governments, pirate alliances, and long-running mysteries.
The series combines adventure, comedy, action, and political themes. Its world includes the Grand Line, the World Government, the Marines, and Devil Fruits, which grant unusual abilities but prevent their users from swimming. Luffy’s own power comes from a Devil Fruit, although later revelations add important context to that ability.
One Piece is distinct from Naruto and Bleach, other major manga associated with Weekly Shōnen Jump. Their protagonists, creators, settings, and central mythologies are different.
