Xabi Alonso recorded a winning Premier League debut as Chelsea manager against Fulham in 2026–27.
Chelsea defeated Fulham 3–2 at Craven Cottage on Monday, 24 August. The result gave Alonso three points in his first league match in charge of the London club and completed the opening round of fixtures.
Chelsea made a fast start through João Pedro, while Cole Palmer scored and assisted during the victory. Morgan Rogers also scored on his competitive Chelsea debut, helping the visitors build a decisive advantage.
The match had an unusual personal connection because Fulham were managed by Álvaro Arbeloa, Alonso’s former Liverpool teammate. Arbeloa was beginning his first top-flight match in charge, but Fulham’s late response was not enough to avoid defeat.
