LVMH became the first European company to exceed a $500 billion market capitalization in 2023.
LVMH reached the milestone in April 2023 as investors valued the luxury group at more than $500 billion. The company’s portfolio spans fashion, leather goods, perfumes, cosmetics, wines, spirits, watches, jewelry, and selective retailing. Its major brands include Louis Vuitton, Dior, Moët & Chandon, Hennessy, Bulgari, Tiffany & Co., and Sephora.
The milestone was based on market capitalization, not annual sales or the total value of the brands themselves. Market capitalization changes daily with LVMH’s share price and the number of shares outstanding. LVMH is listed on Euronext Paris and is headquartered in Paris.
LVMH is often confused with individual brands such as Louis Vuitton or Dior, but those brands are part of the larger group. Bernard Arnault has served as LVMH’s chairman and chief executive, and the Arnault family has been closely associated with the company’s control and expansion.
