Omega collaborated with Swatch on the 2022 Bioceramic MoonSwatch.
The MoonSwatch combined Swatch’s accessible, colorful design language with the visual heritage of Omega’s Speedmaster Professional, the watch famously associated with NASA’s crewed lunar missions. Although the collection was produced and sold by Swatch, Omega’s name and Speedmaster-inspired design were central to the collaboration.
The first 11 models were released on 26 March 2022. Each was themed around a celestial body or space-related destination, including the Moon, Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, Pluto, and the Sun. The watches used a quartz chronograph movement and Swatch’s BIOCERAMIC composite, rather than the traditional metal construction of a luxury Omega Speedmaster.
The launch caused unusually long queues at Swatch stores around the world and quickly became one of the decade’s most discussed watch releases. A frequent misunderstanding is that a MoonSwatch is simply a cheaper Omega or a limited-edition Omega Speedmaster. It is a separate Swatch watch made through a joint brand project, and the collection was not numbered or permanently limited, despite early scarcity and resale markups.
