Rado is the Swatch Group brand famous for ceramic watches.
Rado is a Swiss watchmaker based in Lengnau, Switzerland, and is especially associated with scratch-resistant, high-tech materials. Its best-known ceramic milestones include the Integral, introduced in 1986 with ceramic components, and the Ceramica, launched around 1990 with a case and bracelet made entirely from high-tech ceramic.
The brand’s material research grew from earlier experiments with hard materials. In 1962, Rado introduced the DiaStar, using tungsten carbide and sapphire crystal in a design promoted as highly scratch resistant. Later, zirconium-oxide ceramic became central to the company’s identity because it is hard, light and resistant to corrosion.
The other choices are also Swatch Group watch brands, but they are not the group’s signature ceramic specialist. Tissot is known for accessible Swiss watches and innovations such as tactile technology, Longines for traditional Swiss elegance and sporting timekeeping, and Omega for major achievements including space exploration and Olympic timing.
