Which London Underground line is shown in pink on the standard Tube map?
Answer
Hammersmith & City line
Answer
Hammersmith & City line
The Hammersmith & City line is shown in pink on the standard London Underground map.
The line runs between Hammersmith in west London and Barking Riverside in east London. It follows a largely east–west route through central London, serving major stations including Paddington, Baker Street, King's Cross St Pancras and Liverpool Street.
Its pink map colour distinguishes it from nearby routes that share tracks or stations, especially the Circle, District and Metropolitan lines. The Hammersmith & City line is part of the sub-surface railway network rather than the deep-level Tube lines.
The line’s modern identity developed from services historically operated by the Metropolitan Railway and the Metropolitan District Railway. Although its map colour is distinctive, passengers can still encounter shared platforms and tracks with other Underground services.
