Bill the Lizard is sent down the chimney in the White Rabbit’s house.

Alice becomes gigantic after drinking from a bottle inside the Rabbit’s home, leaving her stuck in the building. The White Rabbit and his neighbours try to get her out, and the Dodo brings Bill the Lizard to investigate the chimney.

Bill climbs down, but Alice’s huge foot blocks the passage. She kicks him, sending him flying out of the chimney and into the Rabbit’s garden. The episode gives Chapter Four of the novel its title: “The Rabbit Sends in a Little Bill.”

Pat the Gardener is involved in the surrounding commotion, but he is not the lizard sent down the chimney. Bill later reappears as a juror during the trial of the Knave of Hearts, making him one of the story’s minor characters with more than one appearance.
