Pinpoint launched alongside Queens and Crossclimb in LinkedIn's May 2024 puzzle-game rollout.
LinkedIn introduced the three games through LinkedIn News as short daily activities designed to encourage friendly competition and conversation among professionals. Pinpoint is a word-association game: players see a series of clues and try to identify the single category connecting them, ideally after revealing as few clues as possible.
The other two launch games have different mechanics. Queens is a logic puzzle that requires placing queens so that each row, column, and colored region contains one, with no queens touching. Crossclimb is a trivia-based word ladder in which players solve linked words to unlock final clues.
The launch was widely compared with the daily-puzzle model popularized by Wordle, but LinkedIn added social features such as scores, streaks, and visibility into which people in a user's network had played. Spelling Bee, Connections, and Wordle belong to other puzzle ecosystems.
