Which labor strike shortened 30 Rock's second season?

The story behind the answer

Which labor strike shortened 30 Rock’s second season? The answer is the 2007–08 Writers Guild of America strike.

NBC originally planned the second season to contain 22 episodes, but the Writers Guild of America strike halted scripted television production. Only 15 episodes were ultimately produced, making the strike the direct reason the season was shortened.

The strike began on November 5, 2007, and ended on February 12, 2008. 30 Rock’s showrunners, including creator Tina Fey and Robert Carlock, supported the strike and did not ask the show’s writers to work during it. Production therefore stopped after the available scripts had been completed.

The other choices describe different labor disputes. The Directors Guild of America represents directors, while SAG-AFTRA represents performers; neither strike shortened this season. The 1988 Writers Guild strike occurred decades earlier and was unrelated. Despite its reduced length, season two was highly acclaimed and received 17 Emmy nominations.
