Which Iranian desert contains the Kaluts, spectacular wind-eroded ridges?

The story behind the answer

Dasht-e Lut, also called the Lut Desert, contains the spectacular wind-eroded ridges known as the Kaluts.

The desert lies in southeastern Iran, mainly in the provinces of Kerman and Sistan and Baluchestan. Persistent wind has carved long, parallel ridges and corridors from soft sediments, producing a landscape that resembles an enormous natural city.

In 2016, UNESCO listed the Lut Desert as a World Heritage Site because of its exceptional geological formations and natural value. Satellite measurements have also identified the Lut as one of the places with the highest land-surface temperatures recorded on Earth, although these readings describe ground surfaces rather than ordinary air temperature.

Dasht-e Lut is not the same as Iran’s Dasht-e Kavir. The Kavir is better known for salt marshes and flats, while the Lut is especially noted for the Kaluts.
