Which inventor created milk chocolate by using condensed milk in 1875?
Answer
Daniel Peter
Answer
Daniel Peter
Daniel Peter created milk chocolate by using condensed milk in 1875.
Peter was a Swiss chocolatier from Vevey who worked to combine chocolate with milk without causing the mixture to spoil or become unstable. Fresh milk contained water, which made chocolate difficult to preserve. Condensed milk offered a more practical solution.
Peter collaborated with Henri Nestlé, whose milk-condensation process supplied the ingredient. Their work led to the first successful milk chocolate, marketed by Peter’s company in Switzerland.
Daniel Peter is often confused with Henri Nestlé because Nestlé supplied the condensed milk and later became a major chocolate company. Peter, however, is credited with developing the milk-chocolate product itself. The breakthrough helped make lighter, sweeter chocolate popular across Europe.
