Which Hong Kong hilltop landmark is reached by the Peak Tram?

The story behind the answer

Which Hong Kong hilltop landmark is reached by the Peak Tram? Victoria Peak is the answer.

Victoria Peak, usually called The Peak, is Hong Kong Island’s best-known hilltop viewpoint. The Peak Tram is a funicular railway that carries passengers from the Central district up to the Peak Tower, making Victoria Peak the landmark associated with this famous ascent.

The tram began service in 1888 and was built to connect Central with the elevated residential area. The hill’s cooler climate once attracted colonial officials and wealthy residents, while its height offered commanding views over Victoria Harbour, Kowloon and the surrounding islands.

Peak Tower and Peak Galleria are modern visitor complexes near the tram’s upper station. The summit itself is not exactly the same place as the tourist facilities: Victoria Peak Garden, on the former site of the governor’s Mountain Lodge, is the nearest publicly accessible point to the summit. Lantau Peak and Tai Mo Shan are genuine Hong Kong mountains, but neither is served by the Peak Tram.
