Which historical period is depicted in Assassin's Creed Origins?
Answer
Ancient Egypt
Answer
Ancient Egypt
Assassin's Creed Origins depicts Ancient Egypt. Its story is set mainly during the first century BCE, when the Ptolemaic Kingdom was ruled by Cleopatra and contested by rival political forces.
The protagonist is Bayek of Siwa, a Medjay who becomes involved in the origins of the Hidden Ones, the organization that later develops into the Assassin Brotherhood. His investigation takes him through deserts, cities, tombs, and the Nile Valley.
Origins serves as a prequel to the broader Assassin mythology. Rather than showing an already established Brotherhood, it explains how a secret organization forms in response to political manipulation and personal loss.
The game is sometimes grouped with Odyssey because both use ancient Mediterranean settings. Odyssey is set in Classical Greece, while Origins specifically focuses on Ptolemaic Egypt and the period surrounding Cleopatra's reign.
