Which Harry Potter novel was split into two films?

The story behind the answer

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows was the novel split into two films. The adaptations were released as Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1 in 2010 and Part 2 in 2011.

The book is the seventh and final novel in J.K. Rowling’s original Harry Potter series. Its story follows Harry, Ron and Hermione as they leave Hogwarts to find and destroy the Horcruxes that contain parts of Lord Voldemort’s soul. The trio’s mission leads to the climactic Battle of Hogwarts.

Warner Bros. divided the adaptation because the final novel contains several major plotlines and a long conclusion. Splitting it allowed more of the book’s events and characters to appear on screen than would have been practical in one conventional feature.

As a result, the franchise has eight main Harry Potter films but only seven main novels. Part 1 focuses largely on the search for Horcruxes, while Part 2 brings the story to its final confrontation and aftermath.
