What fictional village is the home of Harry Potter’s parents in J.K. Rowling’s books?
Answer
Godric’s Hollow
Answer
Godric’s Hollow
Godric’s Hollow is the fictional village where Harry Potter’s parents lived in J.K. Rowling’s books.
James and Lily Potter lived there with their infant son Harry before they were killed by Lord Voldemort on 31 October 1981. Harry survived the attack, which left him with his famous lightning-shaped scar. The village later becomes a significant setting in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.
Godric’s Hollow is also associated with Albus Dumbledore’s family and with Godric Gryffindor, one of Hogwarts’ four founders. The village contains a monument commemorating the Potter family and a memorial to the victims of Voldemort’s attack.
It is not the same place as Hogsmeade, the wizarding village near Hogwarts, or Little Whinging, the Surrey town where Harry grows up with the Dursleys. Rowling’s fictional village is named after Godric Gryffindor, making it part of the series’ wider historical mythology.
