Which Harry Potter film was the first to be released in two theatrical parts?

The story behind the answer

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows was the first Harry Potter film released in two theatrical parts.

The adaptation of Rowling’s final novel was divided into Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1 and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2. The split allowed the filmmakers to retain more of the book’s plot during the series’ conclusion.

Part 1 was released in 2010, and Part 2 followed in 2011. Both films were directed by David Yates and written by Steve Kloves. The decision created the only two-part entry among the eight main Harry Potter films.

The two films are sometimes collectively called Deathly Hallows, but they have separate theatrical titles and release dates. Part 1 focuses heavily on the trio’s search for Horcruxes, while Part 2 completes the battle at Hogwarts.
