Which guitarist joined Bob Marley and the Wailers in 1977 and played on Exodus?

The story behind the answer

Junior Marvin joined Bob Marley and the Wailers in 1977 and played on Exodus.

Born William Knew in Jamaica, Marvin had already worked with major musicians before joining Marley’s band. He became the group’s lead guitarist during a crucial period that included the albums Kaya, Survival, Uprising, and later concert tours.

Marvin’s guitar work helped shape the band’s late-1970s and early-1980s sound. He remained associated with the Wailers after Marley’s death and later performed with groups carrying the Wailers name.

He is sometimes confused with other Jamaican session guitarists, especially Earl “Chinna” Smith, who also played on numerous reggae recordings. Marvin’s distinguishing connection is his long-term role in Marley’s touring and recording band from 1977 onward.
