Which group did Beyoncé, Kelly Rowland, and Michelle Williams form as a trio?

The story behind the answer

Beyoncé, Kelly Rowland, and Michelle Williams formed the trio Destiny’s Child.

The group developed from a Houston-based act originally called Girl’s Tyme. After lineup changes and a record deal, the group adopted the name Destiny’s Child and became one of the best-selling female groups in music history.

Their major hits included “Say My Name,” “Survivor,” “Bootylicious,” and “Independent Women Part I.” Beyoncé was the group’s most prominent lead vocalist, but the trio’s sound depended on layered harmonies and alternating lead parts.

Destiny’s Child released its final studio album, Destiny Fulfilled, in 2004 and announced a temporary hiatus in 2005. The members reunited for selected performances, including Beyoncé’s 2013 Super Bowl halftime show.
