Which Great Lake was the site of the Great Lakes Storm of 1913’s greatest ship losses?

The story behind the answer

Lake Huron was the site of the greatest ship losses during the Great Lakes Storm of 1913.

The storm struck from November 7 to 10, producing hurricane-force winds, blizzard conditions, and enormous waves across much of the Great Lakes. Lake Huron suffered especially severe damage, with several vessels lost and more than 200 people killed across the wider disaster.

The storm sank or destroyed at least 19 ships and damaged many others. The freighter Charles S. Price was among the best-known losses; its overturned hull was found in Lake Huron near Harbor Beach, Michigan.

The event helped encourage improvements in weather forecasting, marine warnings, ship design, and navigation practices. It is distinct from the 1975 sinking of the Edmund Fitzgerald in Lake Superior.
