The Japanese Grand Prix is traditionally held at Suzuka Circuit in Japan. Suzuka has hosted the Formula One Japanese Grand Prix for most of its modern history and is widely regarded as one of the sport’s classic venues.

Japan’s first two World Championship Grands Prix, in 1976 and 1977, were held at Fuji Speedway. When the race returned to the calendar in 1987, it moved to Suzuka, where the event became a regular fixture. Fuji briefly replaced Suzuka in 2007 and 2008, but Suzuka returned permanently from 2009 onward.

The circuit is famous for its fast, technical layout, including the Esses, Degner curves, Spoon Curve and 130R. Its position late in the season has also made it a frequent title-deciding venue. Ayrton Senna, Alain Prost and Michael Schumacher all secured or effectively decided championships there.

A common mix-up is confusing the Japanese Grand Prix with the Pacific Grand Prix. Japan hosted that separate event at TI Circuit Aida in 1994 and 1995, while Suzuka remained associated with the Japanese Grand Prix.
