Which Grammy category did Taylor Swift’s Folklore win in 2021, boosting attention around “august”?

Taylor Swift’s Folklore won Album of the Year at the 2021 Grammy Awards.

The award was presented at the 63rd Annual Grammy Awards in March 2021. Folklore became Swift’s third album to win the category, following Fearless and 1989, and made her the first woman to win Album of the Year three times.

The recognition strengthened attention on every part of the record, including “august,” which was never released as a traditional lead single. The song later became especially prominent each August through recurring streaming and social-media activity.

Album of the Year is awarded to the album as a complete project, not merely to one song. That distinction matters because “august” itself was not the Grammy-winning recording category answer; the award honored Folklore as an album.
